Overview

Hapdeok Catholic Church is a Catholic church located south of the town center of Hapdeok-eup, Dangjin-si. As the first parish in Chungcheong-do, Hapdeok Catholic Church originated as Yangchon Catholic Church in Sanggung-ri, Godeok-myeon, Yesan-gun, and was renamed Hapdeok Catholic Church upon relocating to its current location in 1899. Subsequently, in 1929, Father Périn constructed a new Gothic-style church building. Situated on a low hill, the church is characterized by its twin bell towers on the facade. The front of the building features three entrances and three windows, all topped with rainbow-shaped arches. The exterior walls are constructed of red brick, while the perimeters of the windows and the corners of the bell towers are built of gray brick. Additionally, diamond-shaped decorations made of gray brick have been added to the lower parts of the windows and on each side of the bell towers.
