About Sinbulsan

영취산과의 사이에 신불평원이라는 광활한 산상 억새초원을 펼친 이색지대다. 동쪽으로는 공룡능선이라는 긴 암봉릉이 뻗어나가 산록 육덕(肉德) 자랑만 하는 주변 산들과 구별된다. 그럼에도 썩 튀지는 않아 간월, 가지, 상운, 고헌의 천미터급 산으로 계속 이어지며 읍성 품은 오랜 고을 언양의 장대한 병풍을 이룬다.

동쪽의 홍류폭포, 서쪽의 파래소폭포 또한 이웃 산들에는 없는 이채로움이다. 파래소폭포 하류에는 널따란 암반계류를 펼쳐 아름다운 2층 누각 작천정이 자리잡았다. 그리고 산 위에는 단조산성이 쌓여있으니 다섯 병풍축 가운데서도 특별히 선택받은 언양의 진산이다.

다섯 병풍축에 운문·재약산을 합하면 소위 "영남알프스"다. 유럽의 용마루 알프스를 본따 붙인 일본의 남북알프스가 다시 새끼를 친 것이다. 저들처럼 하얀 만년설은 없지만 대신 황금빛 억새밭을 자랑하는 노란 알프스다.

취서산은 일명 영취산으로 불리고 있으며, 이 산의 산자락에는 3대 사찰 중 하나인 통도사가 자리잡고 있다. 취서산 정상에서 신불산 정상까지 이어지는 억새능선이 유명하며, 신불산 산자락에는 홍류폭포와 작천정이 유명하다.

취서산과 신불산은 영남 알프스의 7개 봉우리에 속하는 산으로 광활한 억새밭으로 이름 난 곳이다. 경부고속도로를 부산 방면으로 내려가다가 언양인터체인지에서부터 통도사인터체인지 사이에 오른쪽으로 고속도로로 나란히 길게 뻗어 있으며 두 산은 같은 주능선에 가까이 붙어 있어 산행도 연결해서 하고 있다.

Public transport

Eonyang is the starting base. Taking the local bus toward Yangsan (9 daily runs) allows you to get off anywhere on the eastern side of the mountain. For the western side, take the direct bus toward Cheongdo (3 daily runs). Express buses to Eonyang run 4 times from East Seoul Terminal (including 1 late-night bus) and 4 times from Nambu Bus Terminal. Outside Gyeongsangnam-do, buses also run from cities such as Osan, Suwon, and Ansan. From nearby Ulsan and Busan, services are frequent throughout the day.
